Alhamdulillah...
Gathering Bersama SusuIbu.com dan RatuHati.com telah pun dilaksanakan dengan jayanya hari Sabtu lalu.

Excited berhari-hari sebelum, dok fikir hadiah apa nak bagi untuk kategori baby dan ibu. Pusing p pusing mai, akhirnya dapat jugak sediakan hadiah. Tak sempat disnap hadiah yang saya sediakan. Yang saya tau, 1 hadiah dpt kat Hana, satu lagi kat Aishah. Hope hangpa suka la nooo.

So, kita cerita hari kejadian.Kami sekeluarga sampai lebih kurang 10.20am . Masa tu ramai jugak yang dah mai.Semua muka -muka baru. Yang muka lama masa 1st gath ritu hanya KShida, Hana, Aishah,Kikie, Ain dan saya.

Kami bermula dengan ice-breaking.Since organizer Rozy tak dapat hadir, maka tugas diambil alih oleh Kshida. Ramai ...yang sempat saya ingat dan berkenal-kenalan ialah Ija,Mamanoa,Rini,Sara,Dura ( junior sekolah rendah, tak sangka jumpa di situ), Izzah,IbuArifa (Min),Syira,Fika.ada lagi saya tak ingat.Maaf la ye.

Selepas sessi suai kenal, kami teruskan dengan briefing tentang BabyWearing (BW) oleh Kshida jugak.

Masa ni half way saya dah lari ke kolam sebab SI sampai saja situ, nampak kolam terus nak mandi. Saja nak tengok apa dia dok buat walaupun abi ada. Then dia terus nak p main kat taman permainan. Sambil request nak nasik lemak. So abi dia temankan SI makan kat situ sebelum terus p taman permainan untuk bermain.


Then saya kembali ke tempat gath.Masa tu BW dah nak habis dan semua nampak macam dah nak menjamu selera. Dah nak menghampiri pukul 12. Mesti perut semua berkeroncong. Macam-macam makanan ada.Saya sendiri bawak nasi lemak,ada macaroni goreng,nasi himpit kuah kacang Dura, kuih-muih yang berjenis-jenis, lontong ( sungguh sedap. Saya makan 3 pinggan) Bihun goreng, kek cekelat dan cheese cake dari AloqStaq (thanks Rini -sedap, balik rumah pun dok pulun lagi), pudding dan rojak Hana, kerepek pelbagai dan macam-macam lagi la.


Pas makan, kami sambung dengan penerangan tentang kecemasan dan kecederaan yang boleh berlaku di rumah dan langkah-langkah mengatasinya. Ni sapa lagi kalau bukan Speaker import dari Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, abiFarish ( suami Hana ). Siap dengan hand-out lagi untk rujukan. Memang satu perkongsian ilmu yang sangat bermanfaat.


Saya tak pasti masa bila sessi Cloth Diaper (CD) diadakan. Yang saya perasan, ada sekumpulan ibu-ibu dah berkumpul setempat dan kshida dok bagi penerangan. Kami-kami yang dah pakaikan anak CD ni dok relaks sambil makan-makan.Ada jugak yang dok melayan karenah anak-anak yang pelbagai.Sementara menunggu Lactation Counselor (LC) sampai, kami agihkan nombor untuk cabutan bertuah.

Dalam 1.30ptg, Dr.Balkees, LC dan Paed dari Pantai Hosp pun sampai. Tajuk kali ini..apa ye..Low Weight Gain for BF baby..macam tu ka...? saya pun tak pasti dan saya pun actually tak dengaq sangat sebab dok layan SI. Nasib baik abi memberikan perhatian, so balik tu, dia yang cerita balik kat saya. Sessi soal jawab pun mendapat sambutan. Dr.Balkees sungguh baik melayan setiap persoalan.


Selesai sessi bersama LC, kami memberikan sedikit cenderahati buat Dr.Balkees.Walaupun diajak untuk makan, dia takmau.Nak bungkus pun takmau. Katanya, dia dah rasa happy dapat bersama untuk sekian kali. Makan bukan agenda utama ( padahal dia baru habis klinik pukul 1 dan terus meluru datang) .Sempat juga dia berkata yang kita yang memperjuangkan BF ni macam alien dalam masyarakat sendiri kerana benda yang dulu-dulu tok nenek kita buat sekarang nak kena berkempen bagai, nak kena memberi kesedaraan dan tarik perhatian , seolah-olah benda baru. Sempat dia bertanya adakah majikan saya support BF dengan menyediakan sekurang-kurangnya nursing room.Dia kata kebanyakan private menyokong cuma sesetengah macam bank.Dan dia baru selesai 'menang kes' untuk HS*C membina sebuah nursing room masa proses renovation bank berkenaan.

Aishah juga sempat buat birthday celebration untuk hero no-2nya..Apa ka nama..Hadiff Syahmi ka..?? Budak-budak semua happy dapat tiup belon yang bunyi tu..

Acara terakhir pastinya lucky draw kelolaan Aishah.Hadiah banyak sangat sampai cabutan kena buat 2x. Pun ada lebih dekat 10. Terpaksa buat pop kuiz sampai Kshida dah tak larat nak fikir nak bagi soalan apa.

Di kesempatan ini, saya ingin mengucapkan jutaan terima kasih kepada semua yang hadir.Seronok sangat dapat berkenal-kenalan dengan kalian. Lain kali ada rezeki insyaAllah, kita jumpa lagi.

Buat abi, terima kasih kerana memahami dan sudi menemakan ummi dan SI ke sini sehingga sanggup membatalkan hal kerja. Last year pun abi tak join sebab kena kerja. This year ummi paksa sebab ummi nak SI seronok boleh bermain dan mandi kolam, ummi boleh senang lenang bergath. Kalau kami berdua saja alamat SI tak dapat main/mandi atau ummi tak dapat concentrate pada program.

Akhir sekali..nak enteprem jugak..khas buat Hana, balik tu terus dayah gedik try tudung yang ditempah khas dari AloqStaq. Suami dah malas nak layan tolong tangkap gambaq. Letih ... Anak bapak terus zzzz. So terpaksa la amik gambaq syok sendiri. Suka sangat.... terima kasih daun keladi..lain kali nak tempah lagi..boleh noo Hana...

Since we have 3 WBW events in Penang, so please don’t get bored to read my entry. I have another 2 more events to update you.

After the 1^st event in USM, we have another one organized by Kangaroo Club, Penang Adventist Hospital. It was held at Queensbay Mall. The agenda basically about BF talk, Testimonial from BF moms, BabyWearing show, Contest : Father in Babywearing , Kids Fashion show and Cert Giving for BF mother more than a year.

The program started at 2pm at I was supposed to be there to receive the >1 year BF mom. But sad to say., due to unavoidable incident happened at home, we only managed to reach there at about 3pm. So, I miss the cert giving ceremony.Huhuhu…Luckily They still pass me the cert down stage. ( eventually dapat jugak sijil walaupun down stage ). When I arrived, there was a father wearing sling contest. Is funny to see all those daddies ‘terkial-kial” wearing a sling.

After the contest and announce the winner, then the real and correct way of babywearing show by MBW team. Variety of carriers were demonstrated on the stage. Program continues with testimonial from BF mother. I only managed to see Debz ( MMPS President) delivered her speech on her BF experience with her 2 kids playing freely on the stage. ( I was looking for battery for my camera-conk pulak masa tu )

I did not wait until end of event as I need to attend another function on the same day. It was Izzul Ziyyad’s 1^st Birthday Celebration ! We rushed to Sg Ara as the party started at 2, But already inform Ernie a.k.a AnasFadilah that we gonna be late. Confidently, I navigated abi the location but to my surprise Balai Raya Sg Ara that mention by the host is empty…nobody there. Mula la gelabah takut2 silap date.

I don’t have Erni’s hp #, I tried to call one of my friend asking her “ ada lagi ka Balai raya kat Sg Ara ni. She directed me to the correct venue. Is Balai Raya Sg Ara, Kampung Baru. Fortunate enough, we found it ! ( Penang ni tak besaq mana..sesat pun at last boleh jumpa jugak )

Happening ! The only word that best describe Ziyyad Birthday party.. Punya la ramai budak2..and by the time we reach there. The kids are having fun with games….and Erni’s FIL ( Tokwan Hassan ) is very talented to handle the game..At last I met AnasFadilah, the famous NursingCover maker – sungguh comel, muka awet muda..memang muda pun mak budak sorang ni…

We enjoyed bihun sup, pulut kuning & kari ayam, kuih muih and fruits. SI kind of shocked ..too many kids playing happily around. At first, SI malu2..but then she knew how to enjoy herself even the kids tak berapa layan dia sbb depa dah besaq… Look at her in the picture below..sampai terduduk kat lantai syok tengok orang main.

Perut kenyang and SI dapat belon, we made a move. Thanks AnasFadillah and family for a great treat and Happy Birthday dear Ziyyad! Hope you like the gift from SI.

I have tried Littlepod SSC and love it so much ! Gazillion thanks to KakShida for her on loan unit and admired her effort in promoting babywearing . Never cross my mind to have a trial over it (apatah lagi membeli ) since I’m not an active forumer in MBW where they provide Babywear Library nationwide ( If I’m not mistaken ) and never attend the MBW meeting which actively held in Rumah Nur, Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang. Well, the meeting is always on Sat and me very lazy to drive all the way from Mainland after 5 weekdays crossing the bridge . My Sat and Sun should be in Mainland pulak la… ( Semua ni alasan atas kemalasan melanda..1 hari pun nak mai Island pun berkira) .

Back to review. I only got chance to wear it 3 times. Frankly, I loved the style and is very cozy . Not to forget the alluring design too. Shukrina snuggle in very well . She was happy inside there. I wore her in tummy-to-tummy style & backpack style .

In my opinion, front carry is safer compare to backpack style. Safe in term of she is in front us to look after. While behind, you have to turn back to look at her . The design & safety aspect is absolutely guaranteed for both style . Look at the big buckle is enough . At first I thought is just like school bag buckle. Haluih .

Even though I prefer front carry compare to back carry but with her weight now is 9.6kg , I think back carry is a good choice Is just like your are carrying your old model laptop + some other stuffs together in the bag . I don’t have much spare flesh on my shoulder, hence I can feel the load when front carried her.

But if back carry, the load is more evenly distributed . My back shoulder down to waist is stronger compare to front shoulder down to chest end at my tummy ( do not forget the bumper in the middle ) . All these are lembik part . ahaks ! But for small baby, front carry is more appropriate .

Now I can compare my pouch sling with this SSC. Since Shukrina is quite heavy now, the only way is to hip carry her in my reliable pouch. If I would need a longer distance to walk, mau senget badan mak..hihih. That is where the idea of purchasing a SSC comes in (while sale last-Kakshida punya special sale ..hehe)

Only one thing that I’m not in favor of. This is very very very personal unliking. Only applies to me . When I have to buckle it at my waist. Exactly fit my waist perimeter. Comfortable wearing a loose/baggy type of clothes so I feel like ‘sesuatu yang tidak kena’bila pinggang ku terjerut begitu'. But with my long veil, is able to cover a part of ‘terjerut’ tu… or tuck out bit clothe to cover it?? Unless back carry. Not that noticeable . Abi had reminded me on this . OK abi, ummi got it !!

But an incident last week make abi to think twice of my idea ( to purchase it). We went for groceries shopping and as usual I was very excited to try the SSC first time in public. I wore Shukrina from car until inside the mall. She is ok then. But after she saw abi pushing a trolley, haa.mulalah..she knew that her place is inside the trolley. Eventually I have to release her out after my negotiation skill is not work out for her ( blame my Negotiation Skill Class Trainer for not teaching me effectively..huhuh ).. After a while, she requested to walk…then we she felt exhausted, mula la nak dukong… hmmm….

Okey, is long enough . I shall repudiate that I am not a medical staff, my input might be inaccurate especially on human anatomy .Whatever written here is my personal opinion and review.

Is worth to get one SSC for yourself . Hope that KakShida will demonstrate more on babywearing (meitai, maya RS) this upcoming Northern SI gath. And definitely I'll wear Shukrina with the one and only pouch sling I have ( dah pudar sling yang banyak berbakti itew)

P/S : I misplaced my camera and no chance to snap the moment with SSC

Why I choose sling rather than baby carrier in the market. Very frank answer

1) Attracted to Kak Shida way of wearing Anis and demo during attending MMPS (Mother to
Mother Peer Support ) activity
2) Then, only know normal baby carrier may have affect to your baby spinal stress
3) Some other advantages gain after tried it (already listed in previous entry)
4) Is one of attachment parenting way –lately only discover

For no. 2 reason, I discovered it when reading Jess blog for more pouch sling information during my initial stage of knowing BabyWearing . Jess is the founder (if not mistaken ) of MBW

This article explains which styles of baby carriers promote healthy spine development in an infant and describes the unnecessary stress and resulting spinal condition that can result from using certain carriers.

Am not sure where I got this but I read this before from a trustworthy source ."your baby bum should be lowered than the knee"..U can see this in any babywearing example,pouch , MT, RS...the knee bend and place slightly above the bum .Unlike the normal baby carrier, the leg is hanging down and the bum of coz lar above the knee .that's where the stress is.. - correct me if I'm wrong

Is this question come accross your mind ( because it crossed my mind oledy ) why normal baby carrier in the market is much cheaper (~RM25-RM50) compare to a pouch sling for instant 2 piece of cloth sewn worth at ~RM80 and MT above RM100 and some other brand can even go utnil RM200++

I bet is not only because fo the design/pattern but is more to its function and safety aspect

Do you familiar with a woman carrying baby in kain batik panjang or synonym with MakIndon style. This is what we call babywearing . Babywearing is another attachment parenting method . ( I got this from Hanz’s .Thanks Hanz)

Now is not only Mak Indon but also anybody can practice this . The trend is starting to be spreaded to our community especially with new modern babywearing style.

Babywearing type various from sling, pouch and ring, mei tai and some others. I only familiar with pouch sling and yet to try other types.

I started to wear Shukrina when she was 6 months and until now ( 1 year 3 months) still carry her in my pouch sling for certain occasion like at night market or doing house chores . Previously when she yet to walk, I always carry her in the sling especially when only both of us on the go. If abi around, definitely abi will carry her –normal dokong as abi is not convenience using sling and my sling can only fit me , S size – so cannot share :)

What is the advantage of babywearing from my point of view. You can get more advantage from related website
1) The baby will feel more secure and comfortable as she is close to her mother/father
2) We as mother also feel the same way as our baby is attach to us. U can shop without
qualm, not like if your baby in stroller . You have to watch her out closely and your
concentration of shopping is interrupted ( This is me , am not sure other mother )
3) 2 in 1 activity. Shopping/walking while carrying baby with hands free
4) Baby can breastfeed and sleep on the go.
5) Tiredness is less compare to normal dokong because it not your arm support her, is your
upper body who support the weight
6) I think if the baby can talk surely she will express her happiness because she is
sharing the same view as us. She see what we see, she turn when we turn . She tend to
touch what we touch .Unlike letting her in the stroller , she kind of stagnant inside

For instant, while shopping or walking , one of your friend call / say hi to u from the back, of course u will turn to see. And automatically your baby will turn also and she observe her mother and friend talking . Don’t u think this will increase her…what is the most prefect word.. exposure ..??

I observe the different when I bring Shukrina out in stroller and sling. She is more interactive in sling compare quietly in stroller . ( I din’t say stroller is not good. I do have stroller and it's helpful )

I involved in babywearing after attracting to KakShida 's way of carrying Anis and after some research on it I chose pouch rather than ring. The first pouch I have is Mylovelycloset but as first time everything seems wrong.I consulted KakShida and according to her different brand different size. And material also play an important role .She gave me her Littlepod to try ..ooowwhhh…love at first feel.

Then I grab handmade pouch from Ridz is from Japanese cotton and suit me well. Until now I’m using this .

I do have desire to have a mei-tai style and new Littlepod but considering the $$ and I already have my pouch , I reserve it first. Wait for 2nd baby la kot2 abi approve the budget.hehehe
