Another Colleague Leaving Us

My 3 &1/2 years cubicle mate has left me !!

Well, is a norm, people come and go in an organization. And we should be happy to release a person for their good sake, for better future out there.

This entry is just ‘saja-saja’ , because I feel empty , something missing when I stepped into my cubicle this morning.

I had been his cubiclemate for more than 3 years. Yes , him. Actually I am the one who ‘ceroboh' to his cubicle when I first joined this department. After 3 years, we had move to 3 different cubicles together. Even 2nd last cubicle we share with our boss ( temporary he was sitting with us) and now the last cubicle we had to add in one more person , total is 4 .

Even is 4 people, the cub is alive if only left me and him. Since the first cub. Two of us is enough to cherish up the cub. Actually is not him who pretend to be a good listener but is more to myself ‘ yang pagi-pagi dah mai buat bising’. And this cubmate is very patient to go along with all my karenah. Certain morning I come with a good mood, some days with bitter face. And he never fails to listen to all my stories including gossip. Well, banyak sungguh gossip dan rumours di sini. He is too good to be involved in gossiping but he is not good to avoid from listening it from me. Kalah perempuan. Hahaha.. Well, I know he just want to entertain me cause if not, surely I’ll get mad.

I refer lots of thing to him since he is senior and experienced. Sometimes, small matters like sending email pun nak refer. I admit, he is good in writing report, presentation and etc. So supaya saya tidak malu di kemudian hari, baik saya suruh dia perbetui awal2. Even the credits will go to me, I think he is sincere enough.

We can talk about any topic..politic, religion, life. Most of the time he ‘s the one who come out with points, fact while me talk nonsense...Huhuh. Perhaps our interest is different. Man with their politic, world, technology, car, share and stock market. While me , women more to shopping, clothes, entertainment, kids, jewellery . Even is different but we can complement each other. When he talk about share price, I will look like excited and ‘faham’. Same goes to him I think…

I guess beside my husband, he is another person who get most of breastfeeding (BF) knowledge from me. I wish he is another mommy who is learning about BF, surely he’ll meet at least 6 months of exclusive BFing target. Unfortunately he is a MAN ! but I think ( hope) more or less, he convey BF msg throughout our sharing to his beloved wife . I helped to purchase breast pump for his wife, he bought a cloth diaper for his son from me.

Don’ t get me wrong. As if I don’t have any girl friend. Sampai ilmu BF pun kongsi dengan lelaki. For your information, 18 years ago, this company started with 90% male and 10% female. Up to date, even the % for female is increasing but still we can see more males here. We have more men in our dept and since ‘muka dia yang saya dok mengadap tiap-tiap hari’, thus lots of info we shared together. And we take it professionally. Even is about BF and CDing, he take it as ‘ilmu yang tidak rugi tahu’ even he does not apply it and for some men is like “ what the heck your are talking about “ or some like “ hey..this is 18sx story” . My husband can also talk about BF with his colleague and encourage me and his colleague to interact about BF. For my cubmate, he also tell me about his childrens development, indirectly teach me how to nuture my kids.

Ok, I don’t want to drag this entry or end up I will kutuk him more or puji him more..heheh.. He is not reading my blog. He wanted to but I said, if only he is not our employee, then I’ll give you the URL.

p/s : I am the youngest and the only 20-an yrs old staff in my dept. So is either they treat me like junior or buli me like budak-budak . What do you think?

Aku seorang kuli

Lagi senang. Cuti banyak, gaji pn banyak.”

Ada pulak yang komen

“sampai bila nak duk situ, Tak teringin mintak keja lain ka macam x ka, y ka…”

“Hang tak letih ka kerja situ.Awat tak join z. La ni depa pun dah baguih “

Jujurnya kehidupan saya dikelilingi warga pendidik mahupun orang gomen.

“ Buatpo nya Hidayah tak mintak cikgu ko, kijo lain ko..??

Orang tak pandang kalau at the end EPF saya beratus ribu hanya kerana saya TIDAK ADA PENCEN !

Dalam keadaan saya begini, saya sangat mementingkan kualiti time bersama anak.

Banyak lagi kalau ikutkan saya nak luahkan..hehehe..satgi lagi emosional pulak, Cukupla kot.

Hunting for job

Last 2 week, there was a Career and Post Graduate Fair at PISA. I was there not to visit but as exhibitor. Actually my company took part in the fair and I helped our HR to be dutied at booth.

There crowd was big but I would say previous years even bigger. Since 2005 until now except 2008, I helped out at our company booth. Even is tiring but joyful. Tiring due to you can hardly sit from 9.00am to 6pm.Continue talking and treating people. Distribute forms and souvenirs and some other clerical job. But I enjoy looking at human’s who are most of them visiting the fair for one purpose : to search for job

When I was at my first year joining this career fair, I was thinking that we able to get pool of resume and candidates to fill up vacancies at our company. Yes, we did it. Every end of the fair, we would bring back thousands of résumé and applications home. But from what Staffing Manager told me. From this pool, actually 80% of it is not what we are looking for. I had the opportunity to quickly went thru some resume. Ya..she is correct. There are not from a outshine employee or high flyer . Most are so-so only.

From my experience working in Recruitment team, I learn a skill on howx to analyze people from their resume , I mean from his position, salary, companies that he joined and project he worked on. I am trying to tell is good employee do not come to career fair to find job. They may either apply it online, thru friend recommendation or headhunter. Those who are at career fair is sort of desperate to find/ change job. But my statement might be wrong. There is a pool of best employee were hanging around at the fair. I met one of my ex-colleague . She is good and always have better opportunity is career life. She was there too.She was there just to test the market. Alahai..macam best je.

So how bout your luck in job hunting. Are you the one who is lucky enough. Easy to get new job? prefer to jump here and there? Or just stick to one company after you feel comfortable with it? I wrote about job satisfaction some time ago

As for me, I hope that I can change my career field but since I am expecting..tunggu bersalin dulu la kot.

p/s : my counterpart is leaving soon. Sedihnya….

Berapa jam anda bekerja sehari?

How long are you spending your time at office ? I guess most of our working our is a normal 8 am to 5pm or 8.30am to 5.30pm or 9am to 6pm. More or less. There are shift people who work 7am – 7pm ( 12 hours shift ). Some is 8am – 3pm , 7am – 2pm . Some even odd hours like certain banking sector, global service support where they have to follow the country’s time they are supporting .

This is our solid working time. Yet to calculate over time ( pay and volunteer ), our travelling time from home-office-home inclusive traffic jam. How long we have been spending time out from home and our children ? If we want to really calculate, we spend more time outside home and away from our children. In a week, we probably have solid ~48hours ( on weekend ) and fews hours on working day before go to bed to spend with our family.

I do not know. Maybe some of Full Time Working Mom ( FTWM) spend more time at home with family rather than outside working. Perhaps it is because, her working time is short, workplace is walking distance ? How about teachers. They may fall into this category ? with looooongg school holiday.Any teachers can answer me ?

Anyone can clock in sharp 8 and leave of on the dot -5pm ? I wish I can be like you.

Let me tell you a bit about my time spend away from home. I travel about 40min to work. Spend minimum 9.33 hours ( 9hours and 20minute is our official working hours. What’s the heck with 20minutes , huh! ). Most of the time I spend 9hours and 45minits at office ( extra free 25minutes contribute to company ).

Travelling back again 40 min ( this is normal condition without jam) . For cases like accident, car breakdown middle of the bridge, it can drag to 1 hour. Total, I am spending min 11 hours outside !

24hrs – 11hrs (working) = 13hours

13hrs – 6-7 hrs ( sleeping) = 7hrs.

7hours at home with family.! I never feel I have this 7 hours . I am breathless sometime.

And recently , we receive an email from our top management saying that we have to observe the 9.33hours working time and random checking on compliance of working time will be carried out regularly.

On top of the email, our HOD expectation is for us to work minimum 10 hours . Ooowhhh.

If you are in my shoe, what do you do ?
a) Patuh dan bekerja 10jam ( padahal not everyday ada banyak keja yang perlu distayback sebegitu rupa, saya tengok orang lain menyembang ja, surfing ja to kill the time)

b) Buat macam biasa as long as meet the 9.33hours with some extra minutes

c) Any other option ? etc cari keja lain..??

I do agree, some of us really buzy with worklife , be a key person and handle critical project/ process and have to stayback to finish it up. He cannot afford to leave on time.

I will say this is my company’s culture, sapa balik lewat dia rajin, banyak keja dan dipromote cepat. Balik awai tadak keja

For me, I have tons of work to do at home and I have to balance up my life, I don’t have maid , I cook for my family and I take care of my family&house myself ( husband , daughter, father and brother).

I love my work but I don’t like this rule. 9.33hours pun dah cukup menyeksakan.

I was thinking what is the best answer if I were to ask, why I can’t work for 10hours.

Can I say this way

“Since like our organization is aggressively driving cost saving project, I have come out a project to save our company cost, I think I should apply the same in my family. I BF my daughter-no need to buy milk, I cook for my family- no need to buy meal outside and I do housechore myself-no need to hire maid. Save is it ! That is why my after 9.33hours is for home.

But I know the chance of boss to ask such question is slim but they will do such a way will impact your performance evaluation.

p/s: bukan kita berkira nak kerja lebih masa, selama ni pun dah terlebih-lebih, kita very flexible. Kekadang kena meeting after 7, conduct briefing night shift pun kita mai. is just kalau dah company kata 9.33 hr tu , understood la. kenapa pulak nak request utk dept kita kena stay for 10hours

-bukan pekerja favorite boss-

Temperature Scanner - H1N1issue

If you have read my entry on H1N1 vaccine here , alhamdulillah, all these 3 people are healthy. Recently we have one suspected case and he was asked to stay at home . This is due to long fever ( tak kebah-kebah)and some other alike H1N1 symptom . I was told that he got it from PC Fair last 2 weeks. PC Fair @ PISA is well known of its damn crowded! And a few people that work closely with him is instructed to go back too .

Face mask is a common item at my work place and is daily used. With current condition , face mask is not only can bee seen at designated work area but everywhere in our office. People come and go, walk here and there with face mask. Well, benda free, baik pakai for protection. Moreover, the person who incharge of supplying face mask is just sitting behind my cub...anytime can ask from her :)

Our Env, Health and Safety dept worlwide is working hard, seriously and closely to update the employee with info regarding H1N1. Well, with 45k over employee, any chance , anyone of us can be infected. Nau'zubillahiminzalik. The latest email received this afternoon was as below :

Dah nak kena scan sorang-sorang

H1N1 is getting worse. With total 64 deaths up to date, is frightening everyone. Does Government ready to declare this pandemic as “darurat kesihatan’ as soon as this issue reach the bar . Yesterday Utusan report about this ‘darurat kesihatan’.Is only declare earlier if it is reaching the 2nd wave.. ( how is the 2nd wave, wallahu'alam) . What are do and don’t for darurat kesihatan? Is it the same as 'darurat masa perang'??

Emcee Yang Tak Jadi

Tapi utk sehari saja .heheee..
*****************************************************************************
Seperti yang pernah saya cerita dalam entri yang ini, saya jadi back-up emcee yet still have to do some other work in meeting room. Memandangkan hanya ada 3 employee dalam bilik VVIP ( besides our Head of Dept and VVIP – all the pengarah2 T*B,K*st*m, &migr$sen, PB*, B*mba,.M&TI, MID*A, US*, Police –to name a few) makanya saya la kena dok layan tetamu.

Dah habis presentation kat bilik meeting, tetamu pusing2 tempat kami, then kami lunch bersama2.. ( macam la lunch semeja ). Kami menikmati hidangan tengaharidiirngin selingan dari live band “Rocky Din”… saya dok kat meja belakang2..bagus sbb buleh makan sepuas2nya..tanpa ada segan silu atau control di depan Dato’2 ni..yg highest level kat meja saya pun HOD, so tak kisah la..dia pun sporting. Lunch kami adalah nasi bryani kambing dgn lauk-pauk mcm udang sambal, rending ayam, kari ayam, kerabu timun dah kuah kacang…buah2an, kuih muih , itu je la acara utk hari tu. Kita layan ja la gambar..
*jelitawan*
inilah kantin kami yang bertukar jadi bankuet hall. cantik tak ?

*Rocky Din and the band*

*tenaga kerja yang bertungkus lumuih*

*wajah suka selepas acara*

* the real emcee (baju kuning)*

*poyo la ..kui.kui...kui*

Maaf, gambar telah dialih keluar

Grooming Class

Last Wednesday afternoon, I have attended the grooming class that I’ve mentioned in my previous entry. We started off the class at 1pm. We have 4 trainers that taught us about make up, table manner, and personality corporate etiquette . One of them is the sexy Miss Malaysia Queen 2008 ( I do not know exactly what the beauty pageant name ) . All of them from KL..

First session was make up. 1 man and 1 lady’s volunteer to be make over. This time was thrill because knowing me that not soo aware on make-up2 things , what should you put for first layer on your face la.. types of powder la.. how to wear eye-lashes tiruan and so on

Next is table manner course. She covered the very basic of course. She demonstrated on table arrangement , how to eat properly and etc.

The last course was about personality, how you walk, how to walk with evening gown ( yang meleret – leret ditambah pulak heel yng berinchi2.. ) _ how you sit, eye contact and bla..bla..bla… banyak jugak la dia cover. This Miss Malaysia Queen beautiful is the presenter. Tau tau saja la bila Miss Malaysia ajaq berjalan..dia jalan cantik catwalk..kami2 ni mcm duckwalk …

Of course the best part is when most of our Big Bosses were very sporting on the day , willingly to be the model , walk on the stage , been make-over.

I think that’s all about the groom class .Even is not what we expected ( we are more interested to know on how to behave in front of VVIP, how to eat together with them, what should we chat about..) as if we gonna attend social party and towards the end of the class, the presenter macam dah mula merapu ..

He posted a question “ Is anybody in this hall wear a nice underwe*r to day, raise up the hand ? "Girls, Did your mom teach u to change your br@ every day … and many more ( yang tak sanggup saya revealkan kat sini ) . Looks like the male presenter macam g*y..opppsss !!

Afterall, I did enjoy the class especially informative session. Yang merapu tu, we just ignore it . Mungkin depa jarang2 buat training utk corporate sector kot… and rasa sgt tak berbaloi we spend about belas2 ribu for this kind of class. After the course, our MD guided us on how the day looks like. He taught us things that we expect from the trainer. ( rasanya dia pun rasa this trainer is not adding value )

p/s : Kalau jemput macam Norma Norell ke mesti rasa berbaloi-baloi….

Emcee

**gambar ihsan dari Google**

Just wanna ask around, anyone experience became an emcee before ??.

I was so surprised being nominated to become an emcee of one of upcoming event at my company. Well, I left emcee field quite some time and my last event was receiving a delegation from Chubu University , Japan to our place . When I started work, become very low profile.. banyak keja lagi nak kena settle and rasa dah tua ..bagi la yang muda2 expose

Nothing interesting of the story becoming an emcee because I am a back-up emcee. So not that VIP . But this is quite a huge event whereby our TYT Penang Governor is the VVVIP on the day. And about 100 head of department and senior government officers are coming to visit …Is an honor BTW !

And I have gone thru an interview by one of the Dato' who incharge of our company corporate affair . (After listen to him , I think his job is electrifying , sampai boleh dapat Datoship ). Moreover he is nice guy too! And he also remind us that is not difficult compare by having Sultan in as you need to address their salutation properly and correctly such “ Ampun Tuanku beribu Ampun, sembah patik harap diampun” and their such a long name and gelaran with Al, Billah, Syah

Why we are going to have TYT in da -house… I guess we want to build a strong rapport with Penang State Gov and to let new government know our existing . I remembered a story about our ex CEO, whenever he came from US and visited T*B, they will serve him 1st class because why… our bill for electricity is about RM 5 million per month… Manalah T*B tak layan baeeekkk punya… !

So back to an emcee..any tips for me in case there is emergency and I have to replace the main emcee? Or else I can just goyang kaki dok dlm bilik mesyuarat walaupun tak jadi emcee dan dapat makan bersama2 TYT.

And all these senior employees keep asking me whether can I wear something bright on that day.Can I put make up on my face… ( Tau la saya salu comot mai keja..abis dah company mmg tak bagi pakai make up ). Definitely I will dress up ( walaupun hanya back up emcee , siap dah book make –up artist gitu .heheh..nasib ada sorang kakak ni sanggup nak conteng muka saya nanti)

And tomorrow,we, the committe for TYT visit will be attending grooming class for half a day..wallah...siapa takmau ..free tu..agak2 apa dia ajar esok ye ( cara makan, cara jalan, cara dressing, cara bercakap dengan orang2 atasan, ..?? ) ... wait for my grooming class entry soon.

His 1st working day

Today 1 July is my brother’s 1st working day …After ‘tanam anggur’ about a month ++...heheh... But, between a month, I believe he really enjoyed the honeymoon moment ( tido lepas subuh sampai tengahari, main heli ,ronda2 kotaraya, layan game ,lepak masjid batu)..My brother needs time to adjust his body clock as he has been like ‘burung hantu’ during his study time.Just enjoy it bro..because you won’t get this precious time anymore when you start working…

Certain people urgently looking for a job after graduate or even before they finish their study while some want to relax first… As per my bro’s story, girls are more concern about getting job and started to apply when they were in final year. Good one has been offered a job right after their final exam. While the boys some prefer to relax first. ( read relax as : completing viva/ thesis, packing &go back hometown). Not all, there are some boys who eagerly to start their career. Knowing the economic condition, some have set in their mind, is hard to find a job that suits their qualification . Some decide to pursue to Master

Me too, anxious for my brother. Since arwah mama left us, I am next person to worry about him. Of course papa does but he doesn’t show much compare to me ( yang mewarisi sifat mama ) But Alhamdulillah, he knows what to do. Within a month, he attended 5 interviews, ( walaupun nampak macam dok relax ja) that is an achievement compared my time when I just finished study. And he got 3 offers ( pening pulak mana nak pilih ).

Who says no offer for fresh graduates. Up to day, about 60% of his coursemates received an offer. Ahamdulillah..praise to Allah

I would say the industry they are entering or the course they took during study is one of main factor. Is not like me, belajaq lain, keja lain, 100% -sebab tu susah dapat keja awai2 kot. Like doctors, pharmacist, dentist, teacher ( purely Degree in Education ), at least they know, they will be posted somewhere. The job is in hand.

Compare to other courses where need to seek for job ( hantar resume sana sini, register Jobstreet,Manpower etc , p career fair ), they need to go thru all this before getting any job. Some lucky, one time try, hit! As for my brother and his coursemate, the job is there, so they have to compete among them to grab the opportunity by presented well during interview and of course their CGPA contribute to their success.

Each of u must have own memory during our ‘tenure’ seeking for a job. And first year struggling to prove that we are as what we have told the interviewer during interview. –hardworking employee, can work with less supervision, able to work longer hour and under pressure , multiskill and resourcefulness , able to work in fast pace environment, bla..bla..bla..). Mind to share with me here?

To my dear brother, good luck, work smart, be a good QS.. nanti first gaji jangan lupa belanja ..heheh

The Boss and Breastfeed

My boss is recently been blessed with a baby boy.. 4.15kg !! Fuyyyoo ! I can see the happiness and cheerfulness on his face as this is his 1st child. My boss is a very hardworking employee..work..work..work and only get married at mid-30. after 2 years ++ waiting , finally he become a daddy!

It has been a week since the baby arrived. Everyday come to work, there must be story about his dearest baby… He is very excited when telling me about his son’s progress. I spice up the conversation by asking how is Chinese’s confinement style. What the wife consume and not to forget about breastfeeding (BF).

He started to talk to me about having a baby since Raya 2008. We ate together at one of my colleague’s open house . He seems interested to know bout having a baby . That time the wife haven’t conceive yet. Asking me about who is taking care my daughter , about BF and even asking me when am I planning for no .2 child..Wah…not so soon boss ( that time la)

We were chatting on babysitter’s pay which now is increasing especially for Chinese community, about spending on diaper and milk. I just came out with statement

“Luckily I no need to spend on formula milk”.

Then his face become soo curious as if in his mind asking “why?’

Then after few seconds he realized that I am exclusively BF my daughter and nodded his head ( I got his permission first for escaping to nursing room, that is why he got it quickly ) , U can read some of my conversation with him in this entry.

The wife who work in the same company with us also been inspired by her counterpart who is also my pumping-mate. Both of us are encouraging this couple to support BF. The wife initially was attracted on how BF can save $$ (as the husband is working hard driving cost saving project- and me as ‘mangsa’ execute the project -of cos the husband will agree ) . But I keep reminded her, the whole idea of BF is not about saving . Is more than that .

When she gave birth , I was away from office. My boss texted me via SMS announcing the arrival of the baby. I congratulate him and my last sentence is of cos to remind him to support the wife to BF . As the wife gone thru a c-zer, she may need more support .

Yesterday morning as usual, he told me about his son’s story He told me that his son drink a lot. 3 oz for a week-old baby . Oho..my mind tells me that is a FM . If BF how can he knows is a 3oz without pumping out ? I think my boss suspect that I was thinking about FM. Then he admit, they mix with FM as the wife still weak and painful due to c-zer .

Today, while buzy doing work, suddenly he turned and asked me ?

“ Do u know is Similac good or not?”

I paused wondering about what is Similac related to my work. Oh…my boss is not asking me bout work related stuff but about FM !

“ Oh, am not sure la F…” I never buy FM before” ( dalam hati berkata ‘boss, I am not the right person for you to refer with regards to FM lahh..)

The he started to tell me about this person recommend S26, that person recommend x brand. He has a big tin of S26 in house. I just not in favor to continue the conversation but due to he was asking for opinion and he’s my boss , I just told him what I know. And my answer is very bodoh one.

“I am not sure which one is good but some of engineers here giving their baby with Enfa milk. ( This is fact that I got thru chit chatting ). Even richer employee buy PediaSure ( yes, this is was told to me by one of Mummy Manager who bought Pediasure for her child). Isomil also good..( I dunno I just guess)..”

Jawapan yang sangat tak membantu. I mean I really no idea but trying to help. I just quote the price as a measure, the more expensive the better lah kot! Sorry boss. Seems like he didn’t satisfied.

Untuk ambik hati I continue…

"Look at how your baby poop..Ok or not ? Kembung or not ? Each babies differ to each other. S2 6might not good to you but ok to other."

Then he said that they are monitoring that. Our conversation stopped there and I continue working..

Am I loosing my passion to promote BF to him??? I hope not.

Satisfy with your job ?

How is your level of satisfaction with your current job
(regardless your are
Full Time Working Mom -FTWM, Stay-At-Home Mom -SAHM, Working –at-Home Mom – WAHM, Small-Office-Home-Office Mom –SOHO )

Rate it 1 to 5?
For me 3.

Why ?

Because I think another 50 % is out there for me to explore. Since this is the 1st industry/ sector I joined after school, there a abundance of opportunity out there to be adventured.

The 50% I gave is because, I thankful to Allah that fate me to be here. I am nobody in the company, no title like you all but I am just happy to be here.
But still lots of other things that me make not so happy ..

What make people satisfy with their job ( not in preference order )
1)
Position

- Do you think position play a role ? If u have a degree yet working as a clerk, am sure your are looking a position that match your paper qualification right ?

- Every year your are getting promotion , walla…

2)
Salary & Rewarding Environment
- Salary does matter . For instant I am an engineer but my pay is like technician . This really disappointed me!
- If you have chance knowing salary of a person who likes to jump from one company to another , is no surprise their salary is higher than you that have been loyal to the company with the same duration time. One of reason people jumping . I jump u jump?

3)
Company/ Organization reputation
- Does your company is listed in 30 best company to work with?
- Company reputation also one of signal of security especially to the employee . Even I am a janitor in the office but the company satisfy my need and I am happy with the reputation , they always make money and share the profit with employee

4)
Job excitement/ passion
You are a medical staff but your feel working around sick people make you even sick. Sooner or later, u will loose passion

But for a teacher who loves the field very much, teaching ABC everyday is fun for her. No boredom at all

5)
Less Stress

Live healthily whether at home or office. I am sure we are not happy working under stress as if people push you to the corner until no breadth .
Tapi stress skit2 kena ada baru la move beyond kan!

6)
Flexibility
- I think SAHM/WAHM/SOHO mom will vote for this. How bout FTWM ?
Your are allowed to go out during lunch, fetch your child from morning school, go out for a while to bank ,
lari settle hal peribadi and etc. Hilang from workstation and nobody question

It will be happier if no punch/scanner in the company to record down what time you are in and out. There is such a company- big company, believe me !

Only 6 points. But more points can be the reason whether u satisfy or not.

How you rate your job satisfaction ? 1-5 ?
Any other points to add in for those available 6 ?

Bersalin di Tempat Kerja

We have a newborn baby boy in the company yesterday ! The first in history. One of our contract worker gave birth in our company premise.. Actually by chance I arrived from another building at about 5.15pm and saw an ambulance entering the company and parked at entrance. We are very sensitive to ambulance as we just had a fatal accident last 2 weeks. So, what’s next ?

I was on my way to clinic for a pumping routine and I suspect the GH (Penang General Hospital ) staff also heading to clinic too. So I followed them and is true enough. I was informed by the guard “ ada orang nak beranak”…

At clinic, our in-house nurses and doctor with mommy-to-be is ready . They brought her on stretches to ambulance . Our inhouse clinic handover the case to GH staff. Therefore, I started my pumping routine as usual after they had cleared the clinic . Halfway pumping, clinic received a call from informed that “ Kepala baby dah keluar.Kena patah balik klinik.sambut kat sini. “ They are still at entrance area which is 5 minutes from clinic

The clinic staff ‘ kelamkabut’ prepare the things back la.. I have been chased out by the doc “You better run away from here and continue later” she joked. So, I went out to my colleague ‘s cubicle . About 10 minutes later, I went down to clinic to see what’s happening. To my surprise, clinic was clear and the doc told me that baby boy safely delivered in the ambulance .

To cheer-up the crowd I joined them at the entrance area . Our ERT team (Emergency Response Team) is there to help.

Our HR snap a picture and baby is soo cute . Senang sungguh mak dia bersalin anak sulung. The ambulance went-off at 6pm and I continue my pumping session at clinic while carry on keypochi-ing activity with nurses.

The doc and nurses were calm.

By right we don’t allow contract worker to work if they are expecting. Because these worker is short term service and they were supplied and interviewed by agent. Somehow, she managed to escape in when she was 7++months pregnant and nobody notice . She’s wearing sweater all the time and to the fact the baby also small. Moreover, she declared herself as ‘single’ in application form. Perhaps she need the job badly as current economic is not promising .

Wallhu’alam whether is she single or married.

If she is our permanent staff, the baby will be sponsored until he is 21 years old.
Am I keen to deliver my next baby in company premises because the baby will be sponsored… ?? I don’t think so lah…

ISO Audit

This 2 weeks is Internal Quality Audit for ISO 9000:2008 ( new standard that just released end 2008 ) activity in my company . And will going for recertification for ~15th year this April by externaI body. I would say most people at my place ‘hate’/’afraid’ this so much. People think that Audit is for Auditor to find wrong (policeman inspect you) but actually when all the works/ procedure is carried out as per plan/per documented procedure , data is record and keep properly ,should be no worries. Even if there is something wrong, it must be supported with justification. At least, when the person in charge left, new comer knows how to operate or continue rather than the resignee bring along with him all the info

When we try to beat system, skip procedure , ignorance, non-compliance and think that nobody will find out.Ha ! This is the time you will get trapped . Provided the Auditor is smart enough to dig..dig..dig until root.

This round I will be involved again as one of internal auditor and still buddy –up with senior auditor ( the most powerful & experience auditor in my com) . This is 3rd time me partner with her. Even sometimes feel cannot get along, but she taught me lots of tips in auditing ( I had never been audited before, just now how to audit people..hahah )

So when audit time everybody will be preparing their own area. Try to housekeep and update document, make sure all procedure compliance , get some data ready, prepare answer for predicted question and so on. Me as an auditor, learn and polish my auditing skill so that they will reveal whatever should be ( especially if something goes wrong ) .

This is about workplace. Sometimes I just wonder, why during audit time everybody keep busy preparing and feel afraid. Why ? There are many reasons that I’m not in favor to note here. And is not my main discussion

How about audit at home … ?? have you ever thinking of perform audit for your own house ? Will it be important as much as our organization concerns to get certification with ISO 9000 la, 14000 la… ??

I shall stop here because time/condition constraint . I have lots of document/procedure to read /digest before perform audit this Wed. Will continue with Home Internal Audit soon
