Does cow smoke?

Have u ever seen cow smoking ( apa punya soalan nih) ? But why Tuan Guru Nik Aziz said Muslim smoker is similar to cow or even worse than cow..oowhhhh… am sure smoker out there naik darah’ if we call them as cow…. But what Tuan guru trying to tell us is cow ia an animal that have no brain, cow is synonym for dim, stupid. They can’t think which is good or bad.

Do not expect cow to stop crossing the road when they see you speeding on the road . And when they cross the road is like nobody business…don’t your ever honk at them or end up people will call u bullshi* , not the cow

You can read further here
Bernama

Smoke is not good for our health. Everyone knows.. Neither my husband, my brother no rmy papa smokes . Alhamdulillah. But Papa was a heavysmoker before and left this habit about 12years already ( after all the hard work together with arwah mama-is not easy you know. I saw the rehabilitation process )

This afternoon at my workplace, everyone was surprised looking at one white tent set up out of our building ( out of fence actually). We were guesssing what is the purpose and most of us got the same answer . Tent for a smoker!

Actualy,we have nice build-in smoking corner attach to the building ( I wish I can snap some pic). Very nice as if your are hanging around at Starbuck. Hence , this encourage our employee to smoke. And during breaktime you can see 'berdoyon2' male employee walking to the corner.

And I heard there is a plan to bring smoking corner out from building and that's where the tent is

After all awareness campaign held in our company still the number of people smoke is maintain ( from my observation). But there might have people start to reduce the frequency ( e.g my cubmate ) or totally quit

I remember my conversation with our nurse while I’m doing my pumping activity.
Our medical team is fighting for another proper nursing room (similar to here which located in Building B). Currently nursing mother in building A use our in house clinic-equipped with all necessity for pumping ( for me is good enough rather than no place or pumping at surau which really inconvenience. ).

The nurse - “We are fighting for it for so long … we should have similar nursing room like Building B but the reason given is space constraint Why should have double standard between building A&B . I know you all must be uncomfortable pumping here. Even our clinic also is not a good design for a place to call clinic. Is small ”

In my mind . :Err…actually we are ok . Nursing mother will find place to pump and never easily give up even have to pump in toilet ! yes some of them experience this . thank for whatever we have but if our management consider to build a dedicate nuring room.. Nyiru tapak tangan, stadium nasional kami tadahkan …..

The nurse - “ Management can approve to have a nice 5 star smoking corner but reserve for another nursing room. Smoking corner encourage our employee to die fast but nursing room is to give the best milk employee’s baby and very prideful ”

OO..ooo..the nurse get emotional. I know they have been advising employee to stop smoking whenever this group of employee come and mengadu about their health

Smoker, you are burning you money and quietly killing people surrounding

My vote for Earth Hour

How was my 60 minutes Earth Hour last night ...?? As what I planned before ?

I attended one of my old friend wedding in the afternoon. Since I went together with my aunt, so I lepak bit longer at her house (rumah tu bukan asing - is where I lived before-kira kampung saya le tu )

So I planned to vote for Earth Hour at my kampung. since abi is not with us, so why dont I do it with my relatives. In the evening we went our to store nearby to buy stuff for dinner. and I grab 2 box of candles. I was standing next to ~10-year-old boy and saying that I need candle too (looking at him choosing the candle ) .

"Tonite going to off the light"

He showed his thumb up to me ( dalam hati rasanya dia kata..yeah...let's support Earth Hour tonite)

At home, we cooked dinner and began to light up the candles and arrange all over the hall. Called abi to remind him(since he was alone at our home ).Then we had our candle light dinner together at 8.30pm . I was happy to have cousin's children who were very supportive . They also sign the Earth Hour campaign at school and keep reminding their mother adn grandparents to switch off lights. Some of our neighbour also showed their support. Is a good sign even most of the residents there is 'orang-orang lama'

It was raining outside and I decided to go back after dinner. I hope can reach Penang Bridge before the time over. Since the bridge vote for Earth Hour, so I would like to know, how was it ?

Even is not 100% off, but Penang bridge manage to reduce the usage . Since the bridge is still under renovation and for safety purpose ,I would say abot 30-35% lights off along the bridge. But the most significant is of course the Penang bridge trademark ( yang tengah tengah tu-bentuk triangle ).. all the lights were off ...hoorray !!

I reached home at about 9.25pm. 5minutes to go.Our house is totally blackout..I thought abi went outside/ pasarmalam nearby. But he quietly in the house with pc on...alamak.. defeat the purpose la..tapi takpalah..he might be bored alone in the dark house.

So, that was my story. how about you in voting the Earth Hour?

Tantrum

I think now Shukrina is entering a tantrum stage. She knows and always scream/yell whenever we get things from her hand . Sometime when I disallow her from doing/holding something , she will start to make noise. Either by saying ‘ait’ or crying . Is not a normal crying but she will lay down and repeatedly push her leg. And her face shows an anger.. Alamak, anak ummi kecik kecik dah pandai bebai ( bebai in northern slanga = Bebal )

I’ve experienced this several time at public place ( mall, market etc). Sometime I feel like what else I need to do ? already coax, spoke softly, give her favorite thing , try to bring her out from the situation.
At a time, I try to just ignore but I can’t hold looking at her continuously crying/screaming

I did some reading on how to handle toddler’s tantrum. some summary

Ignore the behavior and do not establish eye contact
Remove the child from the situation if necessary
Give your child positive attention when he is being good
Redirect your child's attention for milder tantrums
Do not give in to the child's demands during the tantrum

And here is some tips from BabyZone.com
"For many toddlers, the world seems to end when they don't get their way. How should you deal with these outbursts? "Ignore them," says Dr. Muscari. Your child is screaming and yelling because he or she wants your attention. You're only encouraging more tantrums in the future if you react to them now. Try distracting your toddler—mentioning that it is almost mealtime or asking her where a favorite toy is can take her out of a difficult situation and help her move on."

When those difficult days come, remember that parenting is a learning process for both you and your toddler.Beside all the guides by Expert, what I need the most is patient and passion in nurturing my kid. Just remember we might did the same thing to our mother before or even worse. We should feel proud and appreciate all those experience, good or bad

I believe is not only me experiencing all this. I wish more mommies out there can share their experience and some tips to me.

Earth Hour

Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is focusing on global attention in addressing the issue of climate change . Earth Hour hopes to provide a global mandate for action on climate change to the world’s leaders at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December this year, where an agreement will be made to supersede the Kyoto Protocol.

How to support the Earth Hour?

By switching off your lights for one hour on 28 Mar 2009 ( Saturday) from 8.30pm to 9.30pm .

Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes.

History
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

So let’s think what are the activities that we shall generate during 1 hour blackout. 

Sazzy Falak the ambassador of Malaysia Earth Hour threw some idea during her promotion of Earth Hour in on of TV show. She suggested us to be CREATIVE in the 1 hour blackout. Is not you totally off all the electricity supply in your house. Be reasonable and try to minimize the usage of it. So you might switch off all the lights/water heater/pc/aircond except fans/fridge/etc. What other consumer appliance in house that have to be ON or u can’t live without it ?

She also suggested having a candle light dinner in house or to restaurant that support Earth Hour.

Good suggestion but for me ( and mommies? ) who having an active children, the dinner might turn up as chaotic when the kids trying to play with the candle/ fire, or blow it off .Hehe.I just think so..

Since we are supporting the earth hour, my opinion, w shouldn’t go to place that do not support the campaign that night , just for the sake to off our lights but enjoy the lights at people place. Intangible we also contributing to global warming. So far I am not sure how many company/ bodies that support and will join the campaign. May refer to website for update . But just imagine if most of mall and favorite public place with no lights, what the people will do?

My proposal ( I’m still thinking whether this can be work out or not because never experience blackout with Shukrina around ), of course lighting candle around the house but make sure place it far/high away from my daughter’s reach . but with the fans on ..tak terpadamkah lilin ku itu ?
1. No tv to watch news kan..so on lappy ( battery mode-aci tak ?)
2. Enjoy candle light dinner
3. Reading under the candle’s light ?
4. Go to night market ( but the hawker ‘s light is on??? )
5. Sleep ( is too early , I don’t think so. Even my daughter’s eye is still sparkling this time )
6. Play hide and seek..hahah.Am afraid my daughter end up crying looking for me in the dark !
7. Play bunga api..( ade ke skg ? )
8. Last , continue daily routine-lipat baju , kemas rumah ,spend time with daughter ( bertemankan cahaya lilin)
9. ape lagi...?

My friend who read this. can help to suggest ? Preferable activity at home as night is inappropriate time for my daughter to be away from home

Let’s vote for Earth Hour on 28 Mar 8.30pm. Do sign up and vote in their website too

#P*P*S*M*I#

PPSMI has been discussing in many forums, events, talk, TV shows and so on. Lots of blogger also wrote about this. Some people seconded while some object.there is pro and cons. Our government must has motive behind while other party who objected also come with reason and perjuangan !

Each of us has right to express what we think. But the only that make each of the thought is different is whether we speak base on research, survey, emotion, personal experience or fact (eg examination’s result )

Thus, is a 'hot from the oven' issue. PPSMI bring me to my old school time memory. When I was in primary school. (early 90s-no PPSMI rules yet and no Science subject, we only studied Alam dan Manusia ), I moved from SRK ( Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan in urban area ) to SK ( Sekolah Kebangsaan in outskirts area ) due to my family moved. I can clearly remember I was the only girl who wear pinafore in the class on the first day while others so ayu with baju kurung ..(huhu malunya) Luckily mama sewed me baju kurung uniform to be wear on Friday, so the next day I wore that baju kurung la..bye bye to pinafore world . But If I was still in my former school, wearing a pinafore until Standard 6 in not a big deal as we have a mixture and balance of races in the school. Even my best friend from standard 2- 4 is a cute amoi. heheh ( We lost contact after she moved to Australia. miss her )

Ohho.. I’ve deviated my topic . Back to PPSMI. When I was in this SK , most of the student are Malays and very little from other races. But my class teacher who also taught us English , Math and Seni is a Chinese teacher. (My school only have 2 or 3 nonMalays teacher that time ). She just came back from confinement and my new friend threaten me that this teacher is garang macam singa, always ask student to talk in English . As we were from Malay Medium group, to talk and learn in English is not easy.

Yes, is true. She emphasizes on English a lot even in Math’s class. Everytime she entered the class, we would start the lesson by recite sifir in English . “One time three , three, two times three six …” .Afterward she will randomly call the name and ask any sifir 1-12 in English . After class, she scheduled us to meet her at staff room to memorized the sifir also in English . Each of us carry buku 55 with sifir inside. So once we successfully memorized the sifir , she will noted in that buku 55.

She tried as much to teach us Math in English and use as many English vocabs during Math’s class . We were not allowed to talk in Bahasa in her class. ( so kami cakap pelan2 or bisik2). She fined student talk in Bahasa during her class ( 10cents/fine) . At the end we collect so much money that can organize year end party. I had an experience when I talked to my next desk friend in Bahasa and she heard it. As a result, besides 10cent penalty (since both of us prefect), we need to stand in front of the class and loudly, repeatedly said “We will talk in English next time” ..something like that la…I can’t remember the exact sentence

Another rule is to speak English to school clerk cum Koperasi cashier ( also a nice Chinese lady). She told the clerk, if any of her student speak in Bahasa when buying at Kedai Koperasi, (the clerk knew most of students) inform her and get fine again . until that extend…huhu…So we have to say” Auntie N, can I have the pencil, how much is it..?? “Auntie N, I want to buy this eraser” and etc

These are some of memories I had with her. I thank on her effort. If not because of her I don't think I have courage to speak English (errr…writing my blog in English with vocab&grammar yang tunggang terbalik) as my family seldom use English in our daily interaction . Is not that I am so passionate/so good about English and neglected the Bahasa. I am also from Malay medium family that love Bahasa and proud of it. Just our Ministry hasn’t come out with such rules that time. Is just her own effort to help us.

And until now I keep in touch with her and she still teaching at the same school for ages ( she already there before I joined the school ) . She asked for transfer to SRJKC but with a concrete reason, the headmaster disapprove it.

To Teacher S.. gazillion thanks and I truly appreciate it

And for my current condition, my job requires me to speak, write English, everything English so mau takmau kena tau la jugak kan biarpun broken .heheh. But still we communicate in Bahasa for informally / non related work stuff/borak2…. .We are Malaysian whaaat !!!

Cherry Blossom in Penang

If you have chance driving down Bayan Lepas or Bayan Baru main road these few days, you are able to see below scenery (to be exact in below pictures is road heading to Penang International Sports Arena- PISA). You can view this at Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone area as well. After couples of months, there was no rain in Penang and grass &plant drying and dying. Only lately ( I would say about 3 weeks back) rain started to pour down especially in the evening and night So most of plant ( yang ala2 segan nak hidup tu) starting to grow, greening and blossoming

Spectacular kan ! (ala ala Cherry Blossom kat Jepun nun )

90/10

Have u receive/ read an article by Steven Covey regarding the 90/10 principle

"Discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change your life. What is the 90/10 Principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%. How? By your reaction.” - Covey

The rest about this article is an example of a daughter who spilled a cup of coffee on her dad during breakfast . And what is the dad’s reaction .Good and bad response

What I’m interested to jot here is my own experience which is similar to this story, just is not a cup of coffee but my 1 year 2 month daughter playing with arwah mama’s lipstics ( yes, I keep all my moms belonging.. e.g clothes, make-up set, brooch, sewing kit etc )

It happened on last Sunday when we were getting ready for my cousin's engagement. She has been playing with the lipsticks ( actually dah kemetot dah lipstick tu ) since morning when her tokba gave her to play. I observe that she did not know how to turn the lipstick up, so I just ignored and let her continue playing.

When everyone is nicely dressed up and I had finished wearing tudung, I turned to her and saw the lipstick tainted all around , on her dress, her face and floor. And it a red blood color…My first response was of coz screaming.. then abi came to look what happen. And for lil Shukrina, she was laughing happily.Ya Rabbi.. ( ummi kena sound la dgn abi sbb tak amik awal2 .huhu and I gave reason that I observe since morning she doesn’t know how to open it, who knows suddenly she’s so smart , able to open the lipstick when ummi syok2 posing depan cermin )

And u know la what happen next.Went to clean her up first, and the lipstick stain very difficult to be removed out. I was using soap and but not that effective. And Shukrina’s hand ( with the stain) quickly touch here and there, the wall, my tudung, while I’m cleaning the other hand. Passed her to abi and abi wipe with dry towel

Now my tudung kena …I was grumbling,..( awat tak keluaq ni )..then only remembered to use baby oil/olive oil ( lambat sangat baru nak terpikiq ). Then I took Shukrina from abi to apply some oil on her hand ( still remain residue ) and since her coverall was dark brown, so I did not notice the dress also been tarnished . and looked at abi…wuaaaa.abi shirt also got this red color mark..

Now, 3 of us have to change , abi’s shirt, Shukrina’s coverall and inner shirt, ummi’s tudung.. and the boring part is for me to iron again. Our plan to go out earlier is impossible( luckily we were not in the plan of following the rombongan, just wait at my aunt’s house -as my cousin is bridegroom side, so only ‘mak2,pak2sedara ‘ going , only 10 minutes driving distance )

That’ s the end of the story. And what’ the morale behind?

As per Covey’s..

10% is the lipstick stain on dress/shirt/wall/floor wherever it is

90% is we determine it by our reaction.

If abi/ummi continue scolding Shukrina or blame the situation, actually no point, I mean.. the more we feel the anger, the more we are out of our mind.

For example. If I scold my lil, she will cry and continue crying + screaming and difficult to handle ( clean her up, change dress and now she knows how to merajuk )- result LATE & HAVE TO PUJUK HER

Ummi out of mind ( dah pakai cantik2 kan, tetiba kotor pulak ) need to iron again with –ve emotion , silap2 terbakar pulak tudung dok iron tuh- LATE & BURNT TUDUNG

Abi, also getting angry of ummi and daughter , driving releCklesly –LATE OR DO NOT REACH THE DESTINATION

These are example of –ve reaction.

But if we take a pause and think of +ve response. What are the consequences

For example :
Do not scold the daughter, with a reason, is our fault letting her playing and she knows nothing bout the lipstick and stain, and she also do not know where we are we going , why this event so important to our family bla..bla..bla..

- SHE Won’t cry and even laugh ( like Shukrina) and no need to pujuk her

- Easy to handle ( change dress/cleaning )

Ummi try to be calm, control emotion. Talk to her gently, corrected her patiently. Even has to iron again, possible to burn the tudung is slim.
Abi also stay cool, remind ummi next time to be more careful, then he can drive carefully and safely ( yalah..is not abi who re- iron the new shirt , huh ! ) and no fire fighting series in the car

The ultimate of ummi and abi being calm, patient and do not jump resulted in a happy journey, not in a hurry (even late ) and no hurt feeling ( sbb kena marah dgn abi) and Shukrina also happy!!

And I tried to re-cap what had happened with abi on our way to my cousins’ house. Both of us agreed that we are on learning curve. And whether we are aware or not, Shukrina is the teacher, she teaches us a lot. How ..?? She creates the situation that make us think how to handle or overcome it . Can u imagine, if we have no baby/kids, no lipstick tarnishing around the house/clothes, no need to find solution ( soap/olive oil) to clean the stain and we can go out happily on time.

But with this kind of situation, we learn .. learn how to wash the lipstick mark ( teruknya ummi ni..tapi is really difficult to be remove within a time ) , how to react to adorable baby who knows nothing except playing in her own world , learn how to control the emotion, learn to be effective, iron and dress up nicely and quickly and decision making

Note to my dear Shukrina : Ummi mintak maaf sbb ummi mcm nak naik hangin after sayang korek2 lipstick tu dan kotorkan semua.tapi alhamdulillah , sayang..u guide me with ur smile and laughter , show me how to handle things and ummi try to cool down ( so tak marah shukrina teruk2 kan! hehe ). afterall is my fault, forgive me sayang...

Warren Buffets Advice for 2009

We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations. Everyone
is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts
who created this financial mess.

Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacon to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older. This year, I invite you to tap into the
financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.
* Hard work: All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

* Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

* Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. [ At least make your Investments get you second earning ]

* Spending: If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things you need.

* Savings: Don't save what is left after spending; Spend what is left after saving.

* Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender's slave.

* Accounting: It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking..

* Auditing: Beware of little expenses; A small leak can sink a large ship.

* Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. [ Have an alternate plan ready ]

* Investment: Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
I'm certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I'm equally
confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will qui
ck
ly regain their financial health. Let us become wiser and lead a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life.

*************************************************************************************

I got this email from fren. Am not sure whether is really coming from Warren Buffet. Despite is not from him , still is a good advise to apply ( at least read!)

How many of us feel the impact from the recent recession ? Gov servant vs Private workforce. I believe private sector will have the anxiety much much more than gov people. (Am I writing an outdated news?? )

I’m neither a financial consultant nor good in financial management but as a person who works in private sector, I can't deny the situation/concern /preparation that have been lingering in me . With flying email/news/rumours that attacking my inbox awaken me I’ve no tips to share as I’m crawling to learn ( struggling to execute cost saving exercise in my organization and in my personal life) but what ever said by Warren Buffets above is more than tips . Tips/advise either comes from me,Warren Buffets, Financial planer or anybody is just a tips if no reaction /effort

A say in Arab

“Al ilmu billa ‘amal, kassyajar billa thamar”

Ilmu tanpa amal laksana pohon yang tak berbuah

Renung –renungkan ( Pinjam Prof Izzi )

U can learn about financial management in MommyFinance.com. Get it one !!

Note : only yesterday my boss updated us that there will be no 13th month bonus this year..huhuhu..unless business is good management will re-consider to pay..But recently our business suddenly receive a demand due to one of market player pull back their Tera Byte product, so we grab the market... betoi ka..?? Anyway I think all of us in the company is prepared for any decision from management regarding $$$. Still have job is good enough

Cloth Diapering

Since I became a mother, I have diversified or deviated my interest . everything will be Shukrina related world. One new interest is Cloth Diapering .

I started to wear Shukrina with Cloth Diaper ( CD) when she was 7 months. And I studied about CD when she was 5months. 2 months before I’m taking the decision to explore CD.

Why I like CD very much.

1) Environmetal friendly . U are not adding garbage that contribute to pollution . You are reducing it anyway..

2) Is very natural. No chemical that contact with my baby’s skin (below info copied form one of the blog )

Dioxin, which in various forms has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, liver damage, and skindiseases, genetic damage, is a by-product of the paper-bleaching process used in manufacturing disposable diapers, and trace quantities may exist in the diapers themselves. Dioxin is listed by the EPA as the most toxic of cancer related chemicals
Tributyl-tin (TBT) - a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals
Sodium polyacrylate -If you have ever seen the gel-like, super absorbent crystals in a disposable than you have seen this first hand. Sodium polyacrylate is the same substance that was removed from tampons because of its link to toxic shock syndrome.

3) Save cost. Long term

4) I like the printed design and color. Sooo cute babe !

5) Challenge myself with one more extra house chore. Actually not much, just add one more laundry per 2 days. Let’s WM do the work !

6) I like every bit and pieces bout CD. The design, the material, the care process and all the jargons in CD world.

I wish I could fulltime CDing but I have to accept the condition where the babysitter (BS ) is not in favor to CDing Shukrina after explanation, trial , pre-line with nappy liner and so on.. she still reluctant (I’ve shared this much in SI, so I’m not gonna repeat here -sedihh L - ). Even I have enough stash for fulltime, am still buying sposies for daytime usage at BS’s house . ( limit 2 per day )

Shukrina routine CD wearing

1) Morning b4 sending her to BS ( I know BS will immediately chg to sposies after I go)

2) Evening bath at BS’s house

3) Night before sleep

3CD’s per day and fulltime CDing ( 5-6 CDs ) during weekend and my off day.

My routine for CD care

1) wash every 2nd or 3rd day –previous I used HAD, now TOP ( TOP lebih wangi skit ) with half or 1/4 from recommendation

2) stripping every month using SunLite

3) washing my washing machine (WM) every 2 month ( can refer to MiaBambina’s blog on how to take care or your WM

4) wash with Sodium and Distilled Vinegar as and when necessary.

My first CD is KasihkuSayangku (KS). I love the design& color so much… gradually I’m adding my CD inventory with various of brands, local and imported, new and seconds . And the latest CD that I bought was last 2 week also from KS- new design but I sold one to my colleague ( he wanna get his wife to try this ) and 2 more haven’t use ( anyone interest to buy LOL ) . I can’ t hold my finger from clicking to CD e-store and embrace myself tightly from buying it especially in this not so well economic condition time (terbabas jugak beli KS )

Special thanks to Kak Shida & Angie whom I met both of them personally for the guidance on CD and of course other e-store owner/blogger that help me to realize my CD dream …

Note : my wetbag and HH OS left at my MIL’s house . I just miss these 2 items as wetbag very important transportation medium and HH OS is one of my favorite CD.
